Updated Olympus lens "roadmap"

An updated lens "roadmap" has been leaked out, https://www.43rumors.com/this-is-the...-lens-roadmap/

Dates are missing, so it cannot qualify as a roadmap.

Among other things that puzzle me are the future PRO zooms:
One appears to cannibalize on the existing 12-40
Two seem to cannibalize on each other as well as on the existing 40-150 and the announced 150-400.

Instead of all these zooms I'd rather see some primes in that "roadmap" e.g. 100 mm macro, 200 mm F/2.8.

It’s possible the doubling of that range may mean it will come with Sync IS & cost a fair bit more.

I expect one of these will be painted white, very fast, and extremely expensive
and the other will be for folk with more limited budgets

Re: Updated Olympus lens "roadmap"

Doesn’t look like the 12mm f1.2 fits in there; in fact (if I’m interpreting it correctly) it doesn’t seem to contain anything new at all on the prime front.

So, no update to the 17mm f1.8 (eg optically and/or smaller and/or wethersealed) or a tiny ultrawide weathersealed prime?

Just a lot of overlapping, dull, mindless zooms. Presumably they appeal to someone, but they certainly don’t to me.

In the Pro section it shows 'Bright Prime Lenses' with a band that seems to go from about 12mm to 60mm. That could be 2 lenses, one at each end.

That's the optimist's view, Andy! I hope you're right.

I wonder why they discontinued the relatively cheap 12-50 weather resistant lens.

Very odd. Overlaps aplenty in the "Pro" space (esp zooms), but nothing to upgrade/replace the lower cost lenses. The 12/2, 17/1.8, 9-18, 12-50 etc could really do with a refresh.

True, although several people have said the optical performance of the 17/1.8 has improved in those produced in recent years.

Weather sealing on it would be really useful, and it would be a very nice, serious compact travel and street lens with that and an optical performance upgrade. Much as I love the 17/1.2 it's a big hunk of glass by m4/3 standards.
