Olympus Survey

How many of you have received an invitation to fill in a survey form for Olympus in your inbox this morning ? All of us or just those of us who bought a lens recently and got our cashback ?

I started and was stumped on Q10, which shows the full range of PRO lenses and asks if I own or am interested in all / any of the lenses in question. At the bottom of the list is a box marked 'NONE' with a cross in it.

Ha ! Gotcha. The box can be clicked but does nothing - you cannot proceed with the survey unless you choose the options provided for each lens. That is, you either own it or are interested.

I had to quit the survey as I cannot afford ownership nor justify purchase due to likely lack of use. I am not going to choose 'Interested' for all as I see myself being pestered with special offers geared towards me buying one or more of them.

Because of this I feel Olympus are going to get very skewed results regarding interest in ownership of their PRO series lenses.

Does anyone else have any comments on this ?

David

Re: Olympus Survey

I got the email, and just tried it, and got the same as you. It's not just the PRO lenses, there are several pages for different sets of lenses and you have to pretend to either own or be interested in every last one of them.

It looks pretty much as though the survey construction hasn't been finished off properly. I'm not sure whether it is worth responding to let them know - or just letting them figure it out for themselves when they don't get any responses!

Very poor showing, IMHO.

Re: Olympus Survey

I haven't bought anything recently but I got the invite. As you say it is very badly laid out. I got through to the end and you get a 10% off voucher which is valid at any Olympus dealer until February.

Re: Olympus Survey

I got the survey and saw that the 'NONE' box has yes and no boxes. I figured that by clicking the No box meant that I was not interested in the above lenses but was interested in something not mentioned.

Having that sorted in my mind let me carry on with the survey. I would agree that it could have been worded much better, also there was no box giving us a say in exactly what we did want.

Re: Olympus Survey

I got it too. You can click on "none/not interested" in both columns and still proceed, at least I'm sure I did that on at least one page. It's not the best laid out survey I've ever seen but at least you're not asked "why do you say that?" after answering each question. When that happens the survey gets closed instantly, I don't care what they're offering as a carrot. I was asked why I wasn't interested in a PRO series lens but I could simply click "price" and be asked no further questions!

Re: Olympus Survey

I got it too and battled my way to the end. It's a dumb way to phrase the questions for sure. Not sure what they were really trying to establish.

Re: Olympus Survey

I got the email too, but the last new item I purchased (apart from a grey import lens) was an E-510, so I suspect that it was mailed to everyone who subscribes to the magazine or some similar criteria. I also suspect it is a thinly veiled marketing ploy and since I'm in no position to purchase anything I didn't bother to participate!

Re: Olympus Survey

I didn't get it either. I'd bought a 12-40 Pro in 2016, but no new lenses since then. Presumably they are filtering the results by assuming that those who haven't bought anything in the last year won't do in the next one either! (not that I will, mind....)

Who devises these damned surveys? 10 year old kids?

Re: Olympus Survey

I haven't purchased a new lens for some time, certainly not in the last couple of years. Mine was sent to me as an Olympus Newsletter subscriber

Re: Olympus Survey

I also got the survey and had no issue filling it out other than on some pages I had to select the none option

I agree it was not very well constructed, but worth doing if you plan to purchase a lens before Feb 15th just to get the 10% off voucher

I tried to make a strong suggestion for a 100-300 pro zoom to partner with the 12-100

To make this thread more visible I will move it from the lounge to the lens focus

regards
Andy

Re: Olympus Survey

I got the email.

I agree - poorly constructed survey in places.

On the questions about lens ownership / interest, you don't need a tick in each row; you just need at least oe tick in each column. And the last row seems a suitable vehicle for filling gaps in columns.

Remember the "professional" survey filler's priorities. The purpose is to get through the survey as quickly as possible, giving away as little personal information as possible, to get the voucher with as little work as possible.

Re: Olympus Survey

Just filled in my survey. Clicked in the "interested" box against "none of the above" to get past the lens page. There was no box for ownership of the 75-300 Mk1 so I clicked the Mk2 box as it was close enough. I am interested in new lenses... just not any currently available. The 12-100 is too long physically and not really bright enough at the short end (F2.8 to F3.5 would be good) to replace the 12-40. The 14-150 would be nice but again one stop brighter would be nice. It seems there is nothing in between the excellent but pricey PRO zoom lenses and the excellent but slow standard range zooms.

Re: Olympus Survey

I persevered and completed the survey intending to make use of the 10% voucher against an Oly 7-14 Pro lens. I didn't read the instructions properly and hit send and my voucher has disappeared. In fact, as far as I can remember I had two vouchers as I was also interested in the pro 40-150. Tried all ways to retrieve it. I might try Oly Customer Services and try to get a sympathetic response for my stupidity!
