Question Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

Hi and thanks for letting me join this group.
I retired recently and decided to try my hand at photography. Bought myself a used old camera to start learning, the E410 which came with the 2 lenses, bit now I would like to buy a another lens which is a telephoto lens, but can't seem to find any to suit my old camera.
Can anyone shed some light on got I can manage to do this on a budget..many thanks and any help or guidance would be helpful.

Re: Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

Welcome! The E410 will take any of the Four Thirds lenses (not micro four thirds) made by Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and one or two others. If you want to take wildlife the Olympus 70-300 would be a good bet. You may pick one up on this forum, otherwise try eBay. Dealers such as SRS, Ffordes, LCE, Park and Wex usually have a range in stock.

Re: Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

A warm welcome to the group.

The Olympus 70-300mm f4-5.6 which I have previously used would be an excellent choice. Unfortunately nearly all the four thirds range of lenses are out of production now but good second hand ones are available from reputable sources. One such source happens to be Ffordes Photographic over at Beauly near Inverness. They are excellent people to deal with and very professional. http://www.ffordes.com/
They currently have five of these lenses available between 189 and 219.http://www.ffordes.com/category/Lens...ssion=ItemName

A useful resource for understanding the Four Thirds System is the Four Thirds Organisation website http://www.four-thirds.org/en/index.html

Hope this helps.

I'm not familiar with this lens, but I had the Sigma 70-200mm which I used on my E-600... it was excellent, albeit a little heavy.

Re: Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

I would say don't be hasty and wait for a 50-200mm to come along at a price you can afford. Prices of 4/3rds lenses have recently taken a dive and are still falling slightly.

Re: Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

I have an Olympus 70-300 4/3 lens for sale at a price significantly cheaper than FFordes. It is in excellent condition and comes boxed with caps and a filter. It should work well with your E410. I got it originally to go with my E510, on which it was great. Although its not quite the quality of the 50-200, its lighter and has a longer reach (equiv of 600mm in 35mm terms!). Send me a pm if you're interested,
regards,
Simon.

Hello Fiferbill, I've been thinking of selling my Olympus Zuiko Digital 50 - 200mm 2.8 - 3.5 zoom and EC14 1.4x Tele Converter. Both are in excellent condition and have been well looked after. So if you are interested please send me a private message.
Thanks, travelbuddy.

Re: Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

Another good dealer to try is LCE

Have a look at this 70-300 with 6 months warranty for 129
https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/Used/Olym...ED_178746.html

Do you have the 40-150 btw
They are 49.99 though one went for 19.99 recently at an LCE branch

Re: Telephoto lens for E410....help.....

Fiferbill : the e-410 was my favourite camera, but mine died.
I found the 70-300 not so great on that camera because it often requires a too high ISO to maintain a fast enough shutterspeed. (I use my 70-300 on a more modern m4/3rds body)
Go for the brighter 50-200 for your camera, or a bright prime like the 50mm.
