Ebay Dealer 40-150mm f2.8 pro

Just had a look on ebay for 40-150mm f2.8 pro and found a lens selling @ 1399 and the seller is claiming this is the only one in the uk.

Is he sure?

And he's managed to scratch it, despite claiming to be a "dealer". Just shows, Caveat Emptor.

Odd that he's also prepared to sell it cheaper, without the case, lens caps, lens hood and tripod mount! What's he going to do with those bit he's left with?

Re: Ebay Dealer 40-150mm f2.8 pro

I note from Olympus that there is no stock on their website, however Ffordes and LCE and many other retailers/etc have this lens in stock I assume?

I have so much lust right now for this lens....I have some drool running across my chin. However I might be tempted to get the credit card out next week whilst in Prague, assuming I can buy within EU

Worth watching to see if he ever sells it! Surely someone spending £1399 will do a little research first?

Looks iffy to me. Poor English is always a bad sign.

It is cheaper than that from HDEW and they have a bricks and mortar presence as well as a website.

I'd steer clear. That scratch looks bad.

Jim
That may simply be a ploy to get around ebay's rules on not charging more for Paypal (in other words, not offering a discount for cash) - I suspect the extras would be availableto the cash buyer anyway, should the buyer have the with to haggle for them.

I didn't notice any obvious signs of non-native English, and the well-known search engine might help to clarify the background of the seller.

Not in the market myself, but an interesting listing!

Piers

Given the price that is awfully tempting I have to say. I do notice however that while you are correct about Amazon shipping it from their warehouse their are selling on behalf of a 'trading partner'. In such instances how do we know if the stock is from 'Olympus UK' or 'Grey'? As I say "it's awfully tempting" but I also like to be 'sure' I'm supporting Olympus UK.

Kind regards, Simon

Re: Ebay Dealer 40-150mm f2.8 pro

It might be Olympus Germany stock in which case warranty is OK, or it could be a Far East grey import into UK. It won't be Olympus UK stock.

I just had a reply from the seller and he confirms that they are indeed of "Olympus Germany" origin , thus "E.U." stock. So given the 'sizeable' discount and that they are EU stock this is a very good deal indeed.

Kind regards, Simon
