Sorry for being incommunicado

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for my lack of presence this last week. I have been in Japan but with a dead laptop... Basically my laptop failed just before leaving for Japan

Yahoo has free internet here at Narita (Tokyo airport).

I have been here in Japan visiting Panasonic and I can categorically refute any rumours that Panasonic Lumix is quitting Four Thirds. I will just leave it at that.

I am now on my way to Manila (Philippines) to visit my mother's family (first time there in 8 years, so well overdue). I get back home next Thursday.

Syonara!

Ian

Hi Ian,

Glad to hear the Lumix quitting Four Thirds rumour is untrue. Now I just wonder (and hope) if the rumours of a Panasonic Four Thirds HDR sensor are true.

Have a great tme in Manila.

Naturally I've signed confidentiality forms, so I can't say anything about what I have been in Japan to see, but some things being mentioned on forums are really just rumours.

I hope the weather is good and I can get some good shots bagged in the Philippines

Dear Ian,

Laptops really do know when to go wrong don't they?! Sounds like you are having a very interesting trip, I look forward to hearing all about it when you are allowed to tell us all.

Cheers

Chris

Which means he has seen something interesting! But let's leave it at that, I'm sure all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

I couldn't have said it better myself But then a camera company doesn't just fly you half way around the world for a picnic, eh?

Back home in about 18 hours from now - catch up then!

Last paragraph suggests colour is some way out yet.

Interesting. But the warning in the article is worth bearing in mind that the technology shown is aimed at security cameras and the like. Also, the sensor manufacturing division of Panasonic is entirely separate from the Lumix camera division. Lumix is an internal customer of the sensor division. I met lots of engineers from Lumix last week, but nobody from the sensor division.

Sorry.
