Re: Photographers on line (Railway)

Not me! I was well away. I did see in the local paper though that there were several incidents and it was about half an hour late getting to where i was. Pretty stupid really.

Re: Photographers on line (Railway)

Idiots and law breaking ones at that. It’s the fact that they apparently point blank refuse to move when challenged that gets me. Do people no longer abide by the law? I guess it’s yet another example of entitled people thinking they have the right. If the train stops and if it has police on board, as claimed, then those police should arrest the people concerned, take them on board the train and let them sort themselves out to get back to their car once they’ve been charged, simples.

Re: Photographers on line (Railway)

As a land surveyor (retired tg) I did an "On Track" course with BR in Swindon. Even with high safety rules, railway tracks are extremely dangerous places to be...………..especially as the photographers in the picture are looking the wrong way...…..

Re: Photographers on line (Railway)

I work as a train driver and have had a couple of instances in the past of hitting someone on the track. I can tell you that seeing trespassers on the track is very stressful indeed. To put your life in danger just to get a photo of an engine is sheer madness.

Re: Photographers on line (Railway)

Aside from safety, standing on the track rarely provides the best viewpoint anyway.

This all seems to be driven by social media and the internet. Everyone 'just has to have' a photograph of the Flying Scotsman.

I’ve worked on the Northern Line on the London Underground for 34 years now. I’m looking forward to retiring in a couple of years or so...
