Anyone got Olympus Studio for Mac OS?

Struggling to find this software which is no longer available from Olympus and I can't find it on the interweb...

My "new" E-1 (yes the dinosaur, not the E-M1) is running firmware 1.1 and I'd like to update that if possible. I think the version of Studio which came on the original CD accompanying E system dSLRs should do the job, even in demo version, so if you happen to have one of those CDs you don't need lying around, please let me know!

Cheers,

Jon

Re: Anyone got Olympus Studio for Mac OS?

Many thanks! Software downloaded fine but no luck getting it to do the firmware update...

In USB control mode it does not detect the camera. And in storage mode it is unable to detect the function to update the firmware. I've found other threads about when to switch the camera on and connect the USB in relation to when you start Olympus Studio but so far it's an exercise in frustration. Off to watch Baptiste instead and I'll have another try later this week!

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Jon

Digital Camera Updater software has been the way to do it for some time on Windows and Mac. https://www.olympus.co.uk/site/en/c/...ons/index.html

The Japan site has it here. https://cs.olympus-imaging.jp/en/sup...tware/firm/e1/

Here are all the updates for the E-1.

Quote:
E-1 Firmware Update

E-1 Firmware Ver1.5 has incorporated the following upgrade.
[Modification]
-Improved the focusing accuracy when using the EC-20 Teleconverter.
* Upgrade history *

E-1 Firmware Ver1.4 has incorporated the following upgrade.
-The S-AF speed in low luminance conditions has been improved.
-AF accuracy under fluorescent lighting has been improved.
-Images shot with the E-300 (TIFF, RAW, SHQ) can be displayed normally.
-New high speed CompactFlash cards are supported.

E-1 Firmware Ver1.3 has incorporated the following upgrade.
-A communication error rarely occurred when the lens opening value of E-1 was changed using the Camera Control Function of OLYMPUS Studio installed on a personal computer. This problem was solved.

E-1 Firmware Ver1.2 has incorporated the following upgrade.
-It is now possible to shoot photos by fully pressing the shutter button repeatedly, while keeping the shutter button halfway depressed. This improvement allows you to continually shoot photos in C_AF mode, continuing C_AF with the shutter button halfway depressed.
-It is now possible to display the focus points for 3-point AF on Finder's LCD.

E-1 Firmware Ver1.1 has incorporated the following upgrade.
-Allows higher sharpness setting values (+4, +5).
-Improves the exposure precision during macro shooting with flash in the P (Program) mode.
-Reduces the time it takes for the camera to recover from the sleep mode.
-"Erasing selected frames" has been updated to enable you to cancel several frames selected for erasure at the same time. This is effective when ERASE SETTING is set to NO.
After you select frames to erase, the SEL. IMAGE screen will appear if you press the arrow pad to go to the next screen or rotate the main dial to change the number of frames in the index. If you select RESET and press the OK button, all frames selected for erasure will be canceled at the same time.
You cannot go to the next screen or change the number of frames in the index unless you erase the pictures or cancel your selection.

Re: Anyone got Olympus Studio for Mac OS?

Looking at the Japan page, all cameras except the E-1 have Digital Camera Updater as download options. That suggests you might have to use either:
OLYMPUS Master 2.x (OLYMPUS Studio 2)
or
OLYMPUS Studio 1.x / OLYMPUS Viewer
which they link to. It could be a Mac problem, as they seem to have more problem, so worth a search on here or other forums.

Just searched and found this DPR thread:
https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2981165
"I finally contacted Olympus and was told that the E-1 needs to be in "Control" mode to upgrade and that Studio is the only utility that handles "Control" mode.

I downloaded Studio 2 on a trial basis, and updated my E-1 from 1.0 to 1.5 without difficulty. I haven't decided whether to keep Studio 2 or just delete it."

So it's Control Mode needed for the E-1 with Studio 2. Good luck!

Yes I've been working on the assumption that I can't use the newer software. Successfully downloaded Studio 2 but when the camera is in command mode it can't find it, and when it's in storage mode it can find it but can't update the firmware. Aarrgghj!

I presume when you say command mode, you mean control mode? Otherwise try that. It might be easier on a PC if anyone will let you try.
