Any old iron?

Rain and cold.

So we went to Beaulieu Motor museum on a February weekday. Guess what? It was deserted. Excellent.

Let's get stuck in with the new Pen F....

A Vincent Twin.

Remember these?

Re: Any old iron?

Not sure what model the Vincent is. It's probably a model 'C' (the 'D' had aluminium push-rod tunnels, whereas this has stainless steel). It's got the black timing chest cover of a Black Shadow, but the barrels heads and rocker covers should also be black.

I had a Series 'D' Black Prince, which was a Shadow with fibre glass fairings. It wasn't as good as the legends suggest. I sold it in the mid 60s for £55. You could put three zeros after that now!

Best bike I ever had was a 1929 Scott 500 Squirrel. I still fancy another one!

Here's a reasonably authentic Shadow:

As can bee seen, the barrels and heads are black (I was wrong about the tappet covers).
