Seltun

Whilst in Iceland we visited the sulphur pits at Seltun, to the south east of Reykjavik. A veritable moonscape, with an overpowering stench of sulphur. The sulphur, we were told, is at around 400 degrees C - and it was not a good idea either to step off the boardwalk or fall in.....

These pits, together with the weird lake, Kleifarvatn, are in an area that can only be described as unremittingly bleak. It's popular for filming there; I believe that some of Game of Thrones was shot in that region.

Thanks for looking, and any comments.

Re: Seltun

Informative shots. Looks very muddy, not what is expected in Iceland..

I don't think they need CC, they are just what they are, record shots...

Thanks for sharing..............

Re: Seltun

Not muddy (except under the water), but soft, bit like sand - I guess you know what the consistency of sulphur is like?

CC? They had a little post-processing: small crop, small increase in clarity and vibrance, just enough to make them look as they seem to the eye, because it's very misty with all the steam off the sulphur. No3 was a very low viewpoint - the rocks in the foreground are little more than large stones!

I left the people in for scale.

Re: Seltun

Constructive Critiscm is my version of CC!

Yes the sulphur surface looks like a soft "muddy" surface to me. The mist makes the photos look as if they need clarity, but then the mist IS there, so stick with it...

The pictures tell a story, and the story is good.....Look forward to seeing more
