Grey days on Skye

Unlike the great sky I got at the Old Man of Storr (posted elsewhere), we had a couple of very grey days on Skye too, without any decent light... but what are you going to do? You're on the Isle of Skye with a camera in your bag.... take some photo's!

I like #2 the best. Quite dramatic in it's own way.

Re: Grey days on Skye

There is no such thing as bad light, only bad choices in how to use that light. You seem to have the knack of making good choices, selecting compositions that work well with soft or flat light and that's not an easy skill for the landscape photographer to master. I especially like #1 and #3 from this set, nicely done.

Re: Grey days on Skye

Thanks for the kind words John, much appreciated.
I like the little white house, as it was an opportunistic stop and dash from the car, on the way home, when I saw the clouds swirling around the peaks.

The lighthouse, I went specifically for a sunset, so did feel disappointed at the time, although I quite like the image now.

The little shed was my attempt to find something new, as most of what I did on Skye was at very well known locations. It was also the shot that finally convinced me that I need a weather sealed body, hence the current one being listed in the for sale section!!

That 3rd shot was quite expensive then! Never mind, I'm sure it will prove to be a good investment, particularly if it helps you get more shots like this.

Lovely. Number 1 for me is the best, but not a bad one there!

Re: Grey days on Skye

I like the first one with the mist over the hills and the lonely house.

Number 1 for me (but close run with number 2) thanks to the lovely use of negative space.
