Four Thirds 50mm f1.2 Macro ED Lens + Hood & LED Lighting Ring Kit

The lens is in excellent condition and comes with both caps, Oly pouch and Original hood and has had a hoyer filter on from day one. Unfortunately I no longer have the box or paperwork. Also included in the sale is a lighting ring set which is in as new condition. The ring light is LED and can be powered directly from the camera hot shoe or independently by plugging into a wall socket or extension cable. It comes with six lens adaptors in sizes 67mm, 62mm, 58mm, 55mm, 52mm and 49mm. The only adaptor used is the 52mm.
We all know the 50mm is the Macro lens of choice but being 50mm it is also the ideal lens for portraiture. So along with the ring light you have a ready to go dual purpose lens for Macro and Portrait work. I have never seen another one of these lenses complete with hood on this forum unless I missed it. This will also work just as well on Micro Four Thirds with an adaptor.
I will not split and please if messaging me do not make me a "cheeky offer" as I will quite happily keep it if it does not sell here.
Asking 300 including RMND signed for.

Front of lens with ring adaptor fitted.

I believe the lens is actually F2.0. The 1:2 is the magnification ratio.

Yes and no.

1:n is the standard way of giving the f No. This is an f2. It gives half life size, also 1:2. There is a lot of nonsense, including from dealers, saying that this is equivalent (whatever that means) to 1:1 on full frame. My Kiron gives 1:1 on full frame or 2:1 (crop factor) on 4/3 or m4/3.

Whatever you call it it is a lovely lens and gives a field of view of 36mm. It is also one of the reasons I remain loyal to Oly and my E5. I lent that combination to a granddaughter recently to do some nature photographs and she won first prize in her local competition, easily

That 1:2 on a lens says the maximum magnification is 1:2. That is just coincidence.

Anyway, this discussion has prompted me into research this lens. Having found one on Ebay for 180 in 'as new' condition, and not needing any lighting accessories, I have just bought that one. This will replace my 4/3 35mm macro which has a rediculously short working distance for macro, such that I have used it (it came with my EP-2) only a few times. How much I use the 50mm remains to be seen.

Thanks for the nudge in that direction.

Quite apart from "real" photography I use mine for document copying and never use a scanner now. Its quicker if I scan in a half tone picture I get dreadful interference patterns but with a JPG it just comes out clear and clean

Such lenses (ideally, 1:1 full frame) are excellent for "slide copying" too, especially with manual (i.e. calibrated) flash through a diffuser.

Re: Four Thirds 50mm f1.2 Macro ED Lens + Hood & LED Lighting Ring Kit

My 50mm Zuiko is probably the lens I use second most to my 12-60 Zuiko.

The dpreview of the lens in 2008 stated: "Certainly in terms of the studio results, it's the nearest we've yet found to a technically perfect lens"

I can't see me ever parting with it!

Just checked E Bay and it seems my pricing is a little on the high side hence the new price now of 220 including postage. The lens does not need the lighting kit but helps with creativity when shooting portraits.

Harold the nudge in that direction would have been to buy this one .

Still 40 more than I paid but that was unusually low.

Re: Four Thirds 50mm f1.2 Macro ED Lens + Hood & LED Lighting Ring Kit

I have had mine less than an hour and played with it just a little.

Life is strange. Before I was persuaded to move into digital I was complaining that I would not be able to cope without full aperture focusing and exposure. Having worked exclusively with stopped down lenses, for macro, for several years, I now find full aperture is going to take some getting accustomed to.

Mine spends most of its time with one of the EC tele-converters behind it for more working distance.

Mine probably will too, as did my Tamron 90 in film days.

Same here, I made a tripod mount for the TC behind the Tamron.
