I tried it for the first time in anger yesterday outdoors. Cityscape at sunset with flowing river in shot. Utterly superb!

I was concerned that there would be disjointedness in the flow of the water but the exposures seems to be long enough that it all just smooths out. Really happy with this. I'm not sure what it would be like in a more natural environment where things are more prone to movement.

I'll try to post some results when I've had a proper sort through them.

It's a fair point about file sizes btw. I always shoot in raw so 63mp files to deal with. It's obviously slower than dealing with 16mp file but imac seemed to cope okay. I generate 1:1 previews when I import which takes longer at the front end but makes it far quicker to work on images afterwards.

Re: Hi Res Mode?

A picture paints a thousand words and all that.

First time I've tried to post a "100%" crop so forgive me if I've cocked up.

Full Hi Res image (I applied a 16:9 crop)

100% crop

Re: Hi Res Mode?

Thank you for posting this example "wasted spark". So at 1/125sec thats a 1sec moment in time. I think that it gives a x2 magnification from some cals I did. I think that the true beauty of this feature cannot be truly realised until you print really big or use in a bluray DVD panning and zooming or panning and zooming on your monitor. I accept that it has limitations regarding movement but it is still an impressive feature from such a so called cropped sensor. But then like the composite mode Olympus does seem to be company who can develop new features it is up to the imagination of the end user to experiment and find new images to best use that feature.

Question is are you likely to use this again?

Re: Hi Res Mode?

That'll make one fantastic large print Alf. Once again I do not think that postings on here are showing the full benefit of high res images because of having to downsize the image size.
