Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

When a couple of days ago, I updated my Olympus OM-D EM-5 II software (and lenses) it did not came to my mind that one can/could share other people's settings working with the same cameras.

How about that ? Would you like to share one, two ?...
I can tell you that mine - just one for the moment - is very, very basic...
Perhaps there are lots of them on web waiting for us. I do have Googled but so far...

A this morning photo to make the thread more attractive

Re: Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

There was talk in the early days of the Pen-F that Olympus would create a sort of "marketplace" for the "creative" (JPEG) settings so that users could share them. I think that with firmware 3.0 (due next week) that there will be the capability to extract settings from pictures on the PC and then download them to the camera for re-use. That's perhaps a step on the way...

OTOH, I only ever shoot raw so it wouldn't do much for me.

Re: Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

Paul, I also only shoot RAW files.
I think that doesn't mean that I could not use some settings "prepared" or made by others.
The customization of cameras is a pain in the ass mainly when I do not like to read the f* manual...
I found
which may be of some use and I will see tomorrow.

Is that using Dymo white on black tape?
(the quality looks better than mine if so)

Re: Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

Tim,
What we see in my first post is a fake, done in Photoshop.
I the writings on a tif file and placed them on the photo below. Then, I saved the file as jpg and I went to the shop telling them that I wanted the text printed with a certain height.

A simple card - even a thin one - was not the solution as the screen could not be perfectly closed. So, the guy sold me a sheet of plastic with the letters on and glue on the back.

The quality is pretty good as you can see and readable even without glasses.

So, do you have a similar solution ?
The point here is that I was trying to know how people customize their cameras and share my own experience...

The real glued text is the one below, for now.

Yes, I use the aforementioned Dymo white on black label, not for the use you’ve put it to but simply my email address and a number to indicate which body it is (I’ve two identical)
Maybe I can use your idea to print out a reminder or two.

Re: Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

Thank you Tim !
I am still struggling with the customised settings. The SCP is so quick to reach and go from there that sometimes I feel I do not need that many options in the dials.

The Fn buttons are customised the way show in the first post but that is something I have to think about and decide which I really need.

Sometimes I try one over and over and when it changes other(s) behaviour I reset it.

Which setting do you reach with the Fn buttons ?
I wanted to look through the viewfinder and move the focus with the finger on the screen. Can you do that ? I think it is possible but do not know how to do it. Any tip please ? This has nothing to do with the customisation buttons or dials...

One think I find very useful is the possibility of registering the setting as a file in the computer. We can mess everything and quickly reset back to "normal"
That is good !

Thank you.

Re: Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

Mines an em10ii rather than a 5, but, my most used myset is for landscape (ISO 200, AP, IS off, 2 sec timer etc), which I have set to a dial position, and then three fn buttons set to back button focus, peaking, and magnify.

There’s also the button on the 12-40 lens, which hasn’t had anything assigned to it yet....

Re: Ready made setting for Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark II

Chris I am here again
iAUTO as written on the label has the following settings.
I called it Reset. Why ?
Sometimes I change some settings in A (Aperture Priority) at wish. I comes to a point that they are no more useful because the situation has changed or other reason.
Then I change the dial mode to iAUTO and I am back to the reset point.
Obviously that not all the settings are customisable but for the most used ones the procedure usually works.

Another note. After working with the aperture mode and making the change of the necessary settings (like changing from the silent mode so the flash can be fired for example or changing the aperture as the lens you are working with is 1.2) I go to Myset4 and save that setting.
This allows me to work consistent and comfortably.
If I did not explain myself correctly do not hesitate to ask whatever you wish.

But since you do not have the 5II but the 10, perhaps the same procedures can be applied with the buttons

Thank you for your attention !
