Re: E-5; 50-200 Birds in flight

Roy, Thank You for sharing ! I really like this mono treatment and I am thinking I should use a mono layer to sharpen and contrast this shot ?

Re: E-5; 50-200 Birds in flight

Chevvy you are lucky to get a kite as close as this, we occasionally get a flypast but usually at some distance although as they have a lazy flight pattern there is more chance to get a shot. I too love Paul's edit, just shows the depth of his skills. The E5 and 50-200mm is an excellent combination but I don't think you have achieved precise focus here if, as you say, it is uncropped - a fact of life with birds in flight, it's always the best composition that is affected and the rubbish ones are usually perfectly focussed!

David, Many Thanks for your valued and sooo accurate comments ! Yes the *rap are perfect in focus ! But as I am learning from Paul on CO6 i am hoping to improve my sharp focus keepers ...

I have cropped and CO6 this birds head and its AWESOME ... will find the HDD External with it on ... may take a while as I have a mega admin job refiling ALL my 6 HDD of 500Gb and saving down to only 2 x 1 Tb (too much "maybe could improve shots" kept now

An excellent shot Chevvy
I would be inclined to try a pseudo (gentle exposure fusion) HDR in Photomatrix from the single RAW file.

Re: E-5; 50-200 Birds in flight

great shots , I,m trying to get some of a buzzard that keeps testing me. now realised that auto focus is useless and will now use manual focus. but sneeking up on him is challenging. well done with this.

Excellent shot Chevvy - I really like the first one straight OOC. But the really important thing that I need to know (and why is no-one else here interested in this question?) is - just how does Nick manage to get you to bring him breakfast in bed? Please tell me. I would really like to know his secret....

Ah! David, thats an easy question to answer - I bring Nick Brekkers in bed at the weekend (on Saturday & Sunday) because ... drum roll ... he gets up first at 6am every weekday and gets me Brekkers in bed 5 days a week

Give and take, David - Give and take Saturday I was up at 5am before the birds and picked some of our organic Raspberrys to put on his Coco Pops ... (after 6am the Blackbird has the best Raspberries

Not a latter day saint ... BUT he likes the bathroom FIRST for showering and shave I just do as I am told and stay in bed ... actually I get up and hoover and steam the vinyl floors in the playroom, back hall , kitchen and front hall THEN go back to bed for my Brekkers ...
