Very evocative shots of my home county. I especially like number two. I believe Upton is an excellent area for butterflies and dragonflies in the summer, although I haven't visited it myself.

Nice set Amc

For me the first needs a chunk chopped off the bottom to get rid of that untidy path, go for where the sunlit grass on the side enters the frame try it square

The third would be better with the water and green grass cropped off

The marsh is extensive and there is lots of wildlife though I'm no expert at finding it or photographing it.
There is a long concrete farm track from the village that will take you into the marsh, if you're up for the walk you can go to the bank opposite St Benet's Abbey and loop back to South Walsham along well kept footpaths.

The Ship in South Walsham and White Horse in Upton are both worth a look in

I tend to get trapped into cropping at the original aspect ratio and don't often consider alternatives.
I like the suggestion for the 1st one (using the browser window to cut it off here).
I'm not so sure about losing the water in the third as it loses some context - I'll have a play anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions, always good to get some constructive criticism

A very nice set.
I would agree with Alf about cropping the bottom off pic #1 but the others are fine IMHO.

I suggest making the crop and leaving it alone for a few days, then looking at it again without the preconceptions of the point of shooting.

For me the third shot is about those lovely tones above the green grass. Composition is as much about what you exclude as it is about what you include.

Sure, I'll make a virtual copy in Lightroom and have an experiment next time I'm processing

I agree with Alf's comments about cropping but would add that No 2 is a real sizzler, my favourite of a very good set.

Re: Upton Staithe, Norfolk, 4th December 2018

What a stunning set! All excellent, but I agree with Alf & John about cropping the first. A square crop straight from the bottom would do the job - the resulting composition would put the horizon in the middle, which can sometimes be less than ideal, but I think it wouldn't detract from this shot at all.

Re: Upton Staithe, Norfolk, 4th December 2018

I love the aerial perspective in the first three - how the misty distance enhances depth in the images.

Thanks, I processed this and then realised I also took a 3 bracket version so I guess I should revisit that in Lightroom

Thanks, again I'll have a look at that suggestion.

Standing up on a bank counts for high up around here
The banking on the side of the marshes is quite a way up.

Nearby where the A47 crosses the marshes on the way to Great Yarmouth the road is under the level of the River Bure which can give you the weird view of a sailing boat floating in a field above your eye line

A fine set. Yes, #2 is probably the winner here.
