Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
There was a permissions problem - if you were already registered on the FTU forum, like Ross and Barrie, there was no problem.
I think I have fixed this now but for some reason, the top image in the post may not be visible - still working on that. Please do try again - https://fourthirds-user.com/forum/fo...lympus-at-last Ian

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
Yes that works now Ian minus the first image as you said thanks.
It will be interesting to see what the final specs are but somehow I don't see it as a large seller unless it has a much better sensor that could deliver close to FF image quality. Only that way could current committed FF users justify taking advantage of the lighter lenses.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
Alas, it looks ugly to me. Maybe good for the pro's, but to bulky and fiddly for me (amateur)

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
I agree Mark. If better specs filter down to the EM1 mk2 or even a mk3 then great. The current Mk2 is as big a camera as I'd want to go to.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
Looking at the mugshots of the EMIX it may not be as large as imagined, although the proportions are all to cock. It looks really ugly, the sort of camera you wouldn't be seen dead with.
Note to undertakers: yank this ugly son of a bitch from my cold still fingers and incinerate it separately. |

It may not be a big seller, but hopefully it will be impressive enough to attract buyers to use smaller models from Olympus.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
When I used Nikon, I had a D300s and never felt any desire, or need, for a D3s. Nikon make a clear distinction between professional and 'prosumer', or amateur models, and Canon do the same.
I believe that Olympus are now embarked on the same course.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
I hope the E-M1X does well and attracts new customers. How many converts will come from FF I don't know. Maybe we will never know unless we get posts on this (and other) forum to that effect. There will be some already in the Olympus MFT camp who will immediately get one as it will be a step up from the E-M1ii (if it isn't an improvement then what is the point!). Then there is a large majority (like me) who went for MFT because if its small size in both camera and lens system as a whole (for these people, the E-M1X is too large; for me the E-M1i and ii are too large - the E-M5 is my sweet spot). Into this group there is a vocal subset who decry the relatively large size of the E-M1X (compared to other Olympus MFT cameras). I think that this is just misplaced frustration and the concern is that you have to get a big camera to get big features. At the moment this concern seems well placed and it may be many years, if at all, before we will see as many of the new features as possible packed into an E-M5 sized camera body. I think that without a camera body roadmap the anger will not fade. Will an E-M5 sized body with these features detract from an E-M1X sized camera? If not then what possible reason could there be for not doing this in the next E-M5 iteration - and letting us know that it will be done. If yes, then perhaps they should think again about the E-M1X as they will have missed their target audience - if the audience want a bigger body then the announcement of a smaller body for later on would not stop them.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
It looks good to me so just need to know the specs and how much better it is over the OMD MK II and of cause the rumored 400mm be it prime or zoom so a bit of a waiting game .
