Broke my Panasonic Leica 100-400

Hello everyone, sorry if this question has been asked before, I tried a search but it doesn't throw up any results which tells me I'm probably not doing it right..

so, I fell on top of my camera whilst my 100-400 lens was attached and broke the connector part.. its broken off and the pins part has snapped off, the 'strip' wiring connector has also broken.

I tried to upload a photo of the damage but the size is too large..

Anyone know if this is repairable and what the likely cost would be, would it work then as it should?

Thanks in advance.. sorry for the poor description

Sorry to hear that Gareth. Here is a link to a thread about Panasonic's repair policy - not great reading I'm afraid

Use 'Faststone' to reduce the size (and more) of images:

Not a very promising thread about Panasonic, I won't be buying from them again.. is it true that there are no third party repairers?

Give Luton Cameras a try. They have a good reputation on this forum:

Re: Broke my Panasonic Leica 100-400

I think that Panasonic have changed their policy as a result of the brouhaha over breakages to both the 100-400 and the 8-18. I'd contact them and see what they say.

Re: Broke my Panasonic Leica 100-400

Gareth,
Panasonic UK send all lenses for repair (or an assessment of repairability) to DK-AVS.
See:- https://www.dkavs.co.uk/our-services...camera-repair/

If it's not repairable and your home contents insurance includes 'accidental damage' you could make a claim on your policy.

Please let us know the result, i sold my Panasonic gear including the 100-400 due to the repair policy, I would re-buy the 100-400 if things have changed.

This is what I suggest as it will not be cheap quick or easy Panasonic and DK AV are awful to deal with IMO

Also wait for the real cost before settling with any insurance claim as they increased the price by 160 between the quote and be buying my replacement 8-18mm

Jim

Do not expect anything from them they need to send the lens to DK AV to have it calibrated which was only being done in Japan
