Question Godex tt 685o

Already have the tt350o for my em10ii, which I'm very happy with but I've seen on Amazon they now do a more powerful tt685o has anyone used one and is it worth the extra cost.

Re: Godex tt 685o

Have you ever been in the situation where its not been powerfull enough? The GN is approx. double so you should get twice the range. Increasing the iso or opening the lens would have the same effect. Buying another TT would mean you could use the 350 as a remote flash as the RX/Tx is built in. But its bigger and taller giving greater side shadows particularly if you turn the camera portrait. With a flash in the shoe I always suggest shooting landscape and cropping to avoid side shadows particularly with 4/3

Re: Godex tt 685o

Thanks so far I've only used the tt350 as a fill in flash and had no problems so far. I have the xt1 transmitter for off camera work and a set of umbrellas and stands. Was wondering if it would be better to get the higher powered guns to use with these for portraits, as feel they would have less work to do than the smaller ones. Thinking that the 350's would need to run full power while the 685's could be run on lower power, therefore faster recycle and less work for the guns.
I want this as a portable location setup.
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Re: Godex tt 685o

There is no substitute for power. if you get in a large hall you will be surprised how much power is lost " behind you " into the hall particularly if you need to photograph about 20 people. So for certain get the bigger guns but you could consider some of the Godox mono blocks which run similar money but of course are mains operated.
Check out the GS 200 /300 /400 but I have not been able to find if the triggers are 2.4 gHZ for your x1 or 433mHz which is not compatible and clearly these are not iTTL.
Personally and you wont like this I put a large flash in the camera shoe and point it at the subjects in iTTL and an old metz45 in the brolly with a flash trigger on it ...The metz goes off with the pre flash ,does not light the picture and the flash on the gun does the work ..Metz and brolly just for posing purposes..oops
