Flickr, over the past couple of years has had problems with peoples pictures disappearing. The problem got partially fixed but there are still people who's pictures are still missing and with little hope of ever getting them back.

Yes, Flickr is a great place for showing your pictures but relying on anyone but yourself to keep them safe is not recommended.
I have back-up hard drives for all mine, but to find them when I want to........ I wouldn't & don't intend having anything online as backup though.

Yes you have a point, though I have never had problems there. Whilst I keep all my photos on hard drives, Flickr is a reservoir of my better ones.

The other problem is that your pictures can be copied and used for profit by others. You can make them slightly more secure by denying other to download. (Not sure how at this mo)

Click on your icon at the top right
>Settings
>Privacy and Permissions
>Who can download your images >Edit >only You
Also I would advise -
>Largest Shared Image > Edit >1024
>Allow others to share your stuff > Edit >No
>Who can add you to a photo > Edit > Only You

There is other stuff you may also want to set to your choice on that page.
