Kew Gardens in focus

We had an afternoon at Kew Gardens today. Good weather and an interesting place. Too hot to go in the glasshouses however. Here are three pictures (as it happens all taken with the Tamron SP90)

Rather expensive day out I thought. Two people, parking, cup of tea then lunch for two was the top side of £50. Maybe I am just mean?

Giant Allium

(There were more photographers buzzing round the Allium than bees...)

A Private door .. the sort of photographic moment I am always seeking

This nice smiling lady looked at our tickets and told us that entry woud be extra...

and a local resident

I did use the trip to test drive a Tamron SP 24-48 lens. Rather disappointed, I gave it back. It was probably quite sharp but very very prone to flare. Pretty much unusable without a proper lens hood.

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

Sounds like an expensive day out but looks like you got some good pics. Especially like #1

Zuiko is right, sounds like an expensive day out, but you did get some cracking shots. The colours have come up very fresh and vibrant.

Re: Kew Gardens in focus

Go to Wakehurst Place instead of Kew.

It's run by Kew, but owned by the National Trust. So if you're a Trust member you get in for free. Parking is free anyway.

Wakehurst Place doesn't have the glasshouses that Kew has, but as it's hilly with large natural rocky areas, far more scenic.

I'm a season ticket holder, £34.00.Get you in to Kew and Wakehurst as many times as you like.
Tend to go about 4-6 times a year so well worth it.
All the best
