Why am I the 'Bad Guy'.

Sorry but I just cant get my head around this.

I relate to members my experiences of receiving THREE Oly PEN-F's with defects in the exactly same place......AND.......I'M THE BAD GUY.

Surely you are not all prepared to sit back and accept the poor quality that manufacturers throw at you with comments like.....

Just needs a bit of an iron.
Wouldn't bother me if I could negotiate a decent discount.
Anything else would be covered by warranty, odds on its just a bit of carelessness in the factory.
Most obviously fussier than me, have to say I wouldn't pay full price, but fair reduction would work.
.......................
Personally, a tiny bit of leatherette creasing wouldn't bother me, but each to his own.
.........................
I did say that it would only be acceptable to me at a decent discount.
You seem to be forever changing gear, so I suppose secondhand value is of greater importance to you than me.
...........................
Well, it's a minor cosmetic defect. It won't detract from its capabilities taking pictures and my guess is that 9 out of 10 people wouldn't even notice it. But, we all have our own thresholds so I'm not trying to pick an argument.
..............................

This is three pieces of Brand New technical equipment we are talking about here for heavens sake, costing 1000 each, where are you standards.

I'm extremely disappointed, I considered this forum to be above this.

Regards

THE BAD GUY

Don’t rise to the bait, Dave. I’m with you. I would not accept sub-standard shoddy workmanship. You are absolutely correct to send them back, all three. I’m astonished at your perseverance to get the camera you deserve. You obviously have tenacity like Theresa May.

Dave, Keep cool. Certainly I was just saying how I would handle that situation....

No criticism, honestly...

Re: Why am I the 'Bad Guy'.

It's easy on an online forum to read more negativity into people's comments than they intended.

I think the PEN-F is sold partly on appearance, and therefore it seems reasonable to me to reject one because of a fault in the finish. It looks like you've been unlucky enough to find a batch with the same fault.

Part of the pleasure of buying new equipment is justifiable pride of ownership from a pristine object. You are quite right to feel that you have not received what you paid for.

For it to happen three times does not reflect well on Olympus quality control.

I’ve given up buying new. A second hand thing does the same as a new example of the same thing, and I’m not looking for imperfections.

Dave, please don't take it to heart, other members are entitled to their opinions and if that's how they feel so be it. Personally, I'm in agreement with you and have already posted my support in the relevant thread.

Re: Why am I the 'Bad Guy'.

Just because that's what you do and think doesn't make it right for everybody.
Also why do you care, no one is having a go at you personally just expressing an opinion
No it wouldn't bother me in the slightest as long as it works properly.

Some people freak out if their car gets chipped or dented in a car park and spend a fortune getting the detailers in.
Others take it as one of those things that's bound to happen and perhaps dab a bit of touch up stick, t-cut or just leave it.

So what happens when you take the camera out and it gets a mark on it?
They are tools to be used not admired in a glass case otherwise just buy an empty shell

I'm not apologising for disagreeing with you, maybe you are just a bit sensitive if you find this upsetting
Actually appears rather childish saying and signing "the bad guy"

Re: Why am I the 'Bad Guy'.

^ If your car suffers a ding after you've purchased it, maybe had it a few years, well that's tough but par for the course, unfortunately.
If I purchased a new car (as someone who was privaledged to be provided with a company car as a perk of management I've had too many to remember) I would not be too happy if it came fresh from the showroom with dings and scratches. But that's me. Obviously some would be OK to receive a battle hardened, dinged and battered "new" car. I find that quite odd, but so what.

Re: Why am I the 'Bad Guy'.

Just to be clear, selling faulty gear as new at full price is poor and yes send it back if you are not satisfied.
I said it would do me at a discounted price, hardly the same as saying you were wrong or a bad person.
Like kids in the playground taking sides, who said it was youngsters that are easily offended these days.

THE BAD GUY
You posted your experiences presumably to elicit response, as most do on any forum. The fact you don't agree with those responses is not the fault of the ones posting, or the forum itself, the problem is yours alone.

As previously stated, this thread is more like playground mentality.
