Bullfinch in the Snow

Sunny spells and snow showers they said. I am still waiting for a sunny spell.
I don't think today's weather had caused the damage to the Birch tree, but it was doing its best to dislodge the Bullfinch.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Here's a different selection from Willington gravel pits. ID help anyone?

Some long distance Curlews with great camouflage.

Little Egret?

And again?

I pretty well cropped long range shot of what? looks a bit different to the Little Egret to me?

And finally a tern of some kind?

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Hi Phill. The first two egrets are indeed Little Egrets but the third one looks like a Cattle Egret to me (a nice find.) The 'tern' is a Black-headed Gull.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Yes they look like Curlews, and you are right about the Little Egret. Last photo is a Black Headed Gull. They loose the black head feathers after summer, but still have a blotch around their ears (!)………….

Nice photo's Phill. Looks like a good venue..
