Car Insurance 's up

Our MPV Insurance renewal comes out at Aviva 560 so I phoned around and Liverpool Victoria is 399 ! we have 11 years NCB protected ... I think the brokers with Aviva are trying one on ...

I think I shall save and go away from Aviva - I can use the savings for holiday money ...

Have you had a shock renewal shoparound ?

We have a few motorbikes to renew as well ... and the house and the VW

I could save a 1,000 at this rate

It's only right we should contribute to Claims fraudsters, victims support, uninsured drivers --- thtat' we British are good at.

Now don't get me started by discussing ,our Foreign Aid. It does seem that "Charity begins at home", adage went out the window a long time ago with our PC politicians, etc, etc

Re: Car Insurance 's up

Well LV are being quite aggressive in pricing to win new business (which is why I just moved my car insurance there after a similar quote). I need to wait a year to see how good their renewal quote will be.

Make sure you get from your current insurers a statement that not only do you have 11 years protected NCD, but that you also have 11 years without claims, this should be dated for your renewal.

Re: Car Insurance 's up

May sound odd, but I'd give Marks and Spencer insurance a bell too. I've never used them, but they've just given me a cracking quote on a Range Rover

We have just moved our house & contents insurance to them - undercut our previous insurer by more than 25% and with better cover. And they sent us some (25) M&S vouchers that were being used as bait, even though we were not aware of these nor asked for them.

Every renewal ( 3 cars & house) we play the same game: "They" send a renewal quote, we ring up & say we are not renewing, "they" drop the price quite substancially, we renew. Except this time, we didn't

That insurance companies try to scam existing loyal customers shows what a bunch of scum they all are.
I'm not expecting M&S to be any diffferent.

You could try carol nash as they do a 6 wheel policy for cars and bikes in one policy, we use them for 2 bikes and one car, that's 9 wheels if you can work that one out - regards Cliff

Re: Car Insurance 's up

Shopping around a lot is the secret. I think the gigantic differences in quotes is down to policies being very precisely targeted at particular groups.

I've got an M&S car policy, and when someone reversed into me and denied responsibility M&S were not going to be able to insure me at all because I'd have had 2 claims in 3 years. And this with NCP. Luckily a neighbour came forward as a witness. Clearly I have a policy aimed at people who are very unlikely to have accidents.

The other thing to do, of course, is to always go back and see if you can get a cheaper quote, I've always been offerd a reduction. I'd go back to the the 2nd cheapest quote and tell them about the cheapest one.

As to why insurance is so dear, those who quote "the namby pamby state of the country" tosh should take a hard look at those TV adverts for the ambulance-chasing lawyers and ask who's paying for the adverts? Also, anyone actually had this mob chasing them after an accident? After my very minor run in with a reversing loony I had two sets of lawyers after me, one lot harrassing me to get me a replacement car I didn't want, and another lot who were on at me for over 3 months to get me to say I had whiplash injuries. Who's paying for them then? And how many people are coerced into claiming for things they either don't have or don't need?

grrrrrr...
