Iain, do you have the flickr app on your tablet?

The reason I ask, is that on my phone, I do have the app. When I enter flickr web site via chrome, rather than seeing the site in a browser window, it opens the app, where there is no option to generate the BB code.

Re: Flickr for beginners

Maybe if you can force the phone to use the desktop site then it will work. FB seems to do something similar and if you have the app installed it desperately tries to keep changing to the mobile site. As I hate the way the mobile site looks on my tablet I always go into FB via Chrome and force it to use the desktop site. I do use the mobile site on my phone though as it's just too small for the desktop layout.

Hi Bill
Yes, my tablet seems to let me use either and doesn't force me into the app. I have just used the 'Copy URL' option in the app to create the following link:
https://flic.kr/p/2fkvv5s

As you can see it doesn't embed the image?

Re: Flickr for beginners

a normal desktop ,......
Select "Copy URL" and paste into the above web app in your favourite browser.
This will generate the relevant BB code, which you can copy and paste directly into your thread on here.
N.B. since it's already in BB code, just paste directly in to your new post,
[/I][/QUOTE]

Keyword, normal desktop that's a selection to get that BBcode.

Thank you. It's finally sorted out.

Re: Flickr for beginners

Interesting discussion. I decided to spend the money on a FlickrPro subscription this year. It was about 40 for one year. For this you get the Flickr Uploadr application which allows to upload direct from a folder. The other thing I like is that the uploader app by default makes the uploaded photos private in the Flickr account so they are not visible to anyone but myself unless I explicitly make them public in Flickr. On my Mac I export full size HQ JPEGs from CaptureOne into a folder that is monitored by the Uploadr application and they eventually get uploaded into my account to an album with the same name as the folder. I tend to create a folder for each month like "April 2019". The only slight annoyance is it publishes the path to the folder in the album description -- but you can change it. Then from my Android phone using the FlickR android app I can decide whether I want to make photos public or share them via email or social media etc when I am away from my Mac. I am now finding that I upload much more of my photography into Flickr so I have it in the cloud in case of something drastic like loss of local files / fires etc. Something I recently noticed is Flickr allows to view your account according to the Public View / Friends View / Family View or All Photos in the Web and Android mobile app so you can be sure of what is publicly visible. Flickr does seem to have improved since I first signed up to it years ago. Of course, I am also locking myself into the annual subscription for Flickr!

Re: Flickr for beginners

Are you a professional photographer who makes money by selling your photos or just using Flickr to store your personal pics?

It's a hobby for me, I'm just using it to store my photos.
