Re: "Toy Cameras" - Open Thread - Holga, Lomography, Pinhole etc.

Thanks Alf. It's not everyone's taste for sure, but for me it represents another method of expressing how 'I feel' when making pictures.

Sometimes less is more, for me, not necessarily everyone.

I love the idea of shooting a street scene through the windows of a telephone kiosk.

Thanks John, unfortunately most of the traditional red telephone boxes have been replaced by modern, open-plan contraptions - they simply haven't got the same old nostalgic magic... buttons 'A' and 'B' and the stench of urine !

Re: "Toy Cameras" - Open Thread - Holga, Lomography, Pinhole etc.

I had a trip to London last week and took the opportunity to try some more photographic experiments.

These were all taken with my homemade cardboard pinhole lens on my Olympus E-M10ii all at ISO 200 hence the long exposure times.

Nice, I would recommend photographers to experiment as a breather to the more formulaic pin-sharp style.

Re: "Toy Cameras" - Open Thread - Holga, Lomography, Pinhole etc.

Thanks - it's quite entertaining trying to hand hold a camera in a tube station for 15 seconds without knowing what you're getting.
My "technique" was to use the neck strap and hold the camera at waist height, screen flipped up. Exhale and then squeeze the shutter.
I think the stabilisation really helps, along with the fact that a small wobble has very little time to influence the image as long as you stay approximately still over the full duration.
It was entertaining to do something completely different for a change.

Bodycap adapted for pinhole photography by AMc UK, on Flickr

Pinhole Bodycap Close Up by AMc UK, on Flickr

I used a cheap eBay body cap and drilled a small hole then taped cardboard inside.

The original instructions I followed suggested using a slice of an aluminium drinks can to the inside of the bodycap. I've also read suggestions to use metal tape. I'm tempted to get another or just sacrifice this one in the name of experimentation.

It's a fun lens to play with but the cheapest I can see on eBay is $50 which is way more than it's worth.
Might be worth keeping an eye out

Well done, this treatment certainly suits the subject. I like it a lot.
