I only went it to have a look....

and came out with a big grin on my face

Popped into Carmarthen Cameras this AM just to 'look', mind you, at a 12-100 and to compare it with me 12-40, size and weight etc.

I can sum up my reaction in three words..impressed, impressed and impressed.
I clamped it in the front of me camera and that's where it has stayed, it hasn't been off yet.
As much as I have loved the 12-40 over the years the 12-100 feels a different lens...crisper, brighter...seems odd at one stop smaller, and more positive, quicker AF.
The extra size and weight was quickly ignored.

If the IQ is as good as my first impressions, and it is so far, then I've got very good result
AND it still fits in my newly acquired 'small' bag

I was offered 350 PX on the spot and walked out with the lens fitted to the camera.
Probably have gotten more selling privately, but PX saves all the hassle, advertising, answering stupid questions, packing and posting the thing off, wondering if it'll get there etc, etc.

350 px is very good. I reckon 399 is tops for a private sale.

12-100 is ace. I've got sharp shots at 8s hand held from it!

Super lens, replaced my 12-40 too.
My wife gets very worried if I pop in anywhere whilst muttering "it's just for a look, darling". She knows me too well!

Re: I only went it to have a look....

I have kept the 12-40 lens as well as the 12 - 100, my reason being that there are times when the shorter lens is less obtrusive than the 12-100 and less likely to cast a shadow when using a flashgun mounted on the top of the camera (heresy heresy - you cry).

Re: I only went it to have a look....

You certainly won't regret getting the 12-100, any bad shots I've had from mine have been my fault entirely. It's good for some macro shooting as well.
