Ahh.........., ickle coot

But not very cute, only the attentive parents could love these.

No great merit as pictures, submitted for seasonal interest.

Nick

It is a real pleasure to be able to see the fascinating details in these shots. The leg and foot is especially rich in detail and very natural. I am drawn to the painterly quality of the subject as it would make superb material for a painting. Against the growing tendency for unnatural colour and sharpening these are refreshingly natural images.

I am all for natural wildlife shots which show the reality of natures more intimate moments - a privilege to get close. Where was mum?

Nice shots Nick.

There are several of these ugly birds in Marlborough.

I tried to take some images, but they came out blured as they were swining down stream.

I did manage to get some shots of little ducks.

Re: Ahh.........., ickle coot

Thank you Peter/John.

They are 'cute' but definetly not graceful, in fact very odd with the part formed wings and the odd yellow plumage.

Mum and Dad were a bit further up the canal and summoned the youngsters later with a loud snapping of the beak.
