Re: The E-M5 has more to offer from the late evening canal stroll

Here is the original camera JPEG of Lara (noise filter at standard with some LR4 adjustments from me) and below that the Viewer 2 version from RAW (noise filter off and sharpening at max):

From camera JPEG

From RAW in Viewer 2

On reflection, my tweaked camera JPEG version at the start of all this was rubbish!

And finally,

The version from RAW Therapee and much-tweaked in LR4 to get the colour half right:

From RAW via RAW Therapee then LR4.

But the colour is still well out.

When it comes to getting the colours spot on, I've used a Colorama range card or Paint Swatches from B&Q having lost my GretagMacbeth card.

It's not that, Graham. The colour is correct in the file, but because Raw Therapee doesn't have a profile for E-M5 files, the colour interpolated from the Bayer Array mosaic is wrong. I tried to do a grey level white balance and it reckoned the temperature was around 7K Kelvin when the sun was about to set and it was more like 4K. As the basic colour channel data is all wrong, it's very difficult to correct.

Shades and jeans

Of those three (at this webpage size) I much prefer the first for its colour and contrast-detail.

Please have a look (in case you missed it over at 4/3rd's):

1.) DPReviw RAW file of OM-D_5 (ISO200) converted by RawTherapee in "default setting" :
http://www.kinotechnik.edis.at/pages...0_P1010003.jpg

2.) "color corrected" in IrfanView (compare the result with the JPG you can download from DPReview):
http://www.kinotechnik.edis.at/pages..._IrfanView.jpg

3.) This is all you will have to do in IrfanView (just give it a try):
http://www.kinotechnik.edis.at/pages...proc/HowTo.jpg

4.) Original file on DPReview can be found here:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews_data...t/p1010003.jpg

just a suggestion - LR, PS or whatever should be able to do at least the same - plus easily adding some icing on the cake

I can see where you are coming from, but the colour in the second one is much closer to how it was. I over-cooked the original one; dialing out too much of the warmth of the early evening light and bringing up the shadows too much. Lara's face looks a bit washed out on reflection.
