A really cheeky request

We have two 'rubbish' point and shoot cameras at school, which really do not function properly, keep breaking down and produce very poor images. We do not have finance to replace them and I was am posting here in the off chance that somebody has a basic, simple, but functional, point and shoot camera in a drawer or cupboard which you may be prepared to donate for the cost of postage.
I know this is very cheeky and I am feeling quite embarrassed as I write. If this request offends anybody I will remove it immediately, but on the other hand there might just be something out there.
Thank you for reading
Regards
Shirley

Re: A really cheeky request

I am mortally offended Shirley However, I do have my first digital camera which is most unlikely to be used again. It is not totally basic it is a Casio Exilim EX-P600. I have just resurrected it, the battery is flat of course and I have put it on charge. I will check it out tomorrow, if it is functional then you are welcome to it. You will need a shaver adapter into which to plug the charger.

If it is of interest let me know.

Re: A really cheeky request

I will hopefully confirm working order tomorrow. I have no reason to believe that it is not fully functional.

Re: A really cheeky request

Shirley, you are welcome to this if it helps.

Olympus D-395 fixed focal length compact (approx. 35mm equivalent)
3.1mp
Maximum resolution 2048 x 1536 pixels (enough for 7 x 5 inch print at just under 300ppi)
Comes with 256mb XD card, capacity 112 shots at SHQ JPEGs (no raw)
1.5 inch LCD screen (small!) but it also has an optical viewfinder
Uses 2 x AA batteries, either alkaline (expensive) or rechargeable (not supplied)
Comes with USB cable but no manual (trial and error or Google) and no software, but it does upload straight to Windows Photo Gallery and launches Olympus Master if you have that.

Here is a picture (of my rather untidy bookcase) that I've just taken with it (auto flash), OOC JPEG except for resizing and small amount of sharpening.

Pretty much the specs of the eagerly anticipated OM-D I guess!

Let me know if you want it, that will make a little more room in my drawer!

How VERY dare you!

Honestly, your is not an offensive "give me an old camera" post at all, you're a proper forum member with over 1000 posts and old digital cameras aren't worth hardly anything these days.
I'm glad you got a couple of offers already, it's just a shame we're in the middle of winter and there aren't any car boot sales going right now.

All seems to be well and not to be outdone by John I too have an untidy study and here is the evidence.

No PP other than resizing for upload. I have even found the manual

If it fits the bill Shirley you are welcome to it.

That's great news for you, Shirley - Two for the price of none!

John, you seem to have an awful lot of copies of the book 'Box File'

Mainly for copies of magazines that have featured my work. I wish there were a few more box files, especially recent ones!

Re: A really cheeky request

I think we have an idea for another informal competition following on from the Bad Landscape and Bad portrait collection.

The rules are simple - start by looking at your computer screen, pick up your camera, rotate yourself through 180 degrees and press the shutter and let us see the fine furnishings of your computer room. <g>
