Now TV or digital recorder

Just after some experiences with TV add ons.

Looking at either something like Now TV, or maybe Amazon Fire Stick, to add to the dross already on Freeview.

Alternative is a digital recorder to record the few programme I do like, and to be able to escape the wretched TV adverts.

Like the idea of being able to watch new Top Gears and films that I might like, but wonder if they just get very samey after a while.

TIA.................

If you have an Android device, the Google Chromecast is great, find whatever you want on the Android device and "cast" it to the TV, the Chromecast device then takes over. You can cast anything you can see on your Android device. 30 one-off price.

Re: Now TV or digital recorder

Amazon Prime Firesticks whatever are quite useful - HiRes programs, so good picture quality, lots of films. PLus you get a huge amount of cloud storage - great for picture backup when you are travelling. Plus the faster delivery service.

The recording time shifting functions on a digital recorder are very good, especially if you can record one channel and watch another. So good that normally we only watch the news in real time - alll the rest is watching recorded programs. Some of the time shift function can be achieved with Prime allowing you access to iPlayer (I think)

The Viriginmedia Sammsung/Tivo allows you to watch one live and record two more scheduled for the same broadcast time.

(Unfortunately, the Virginmedia broadband failed while I was typing!).
