The Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains
(Link)

Two hours by train from Sydney, the most iconic feature of the Blue Mountains is of course the startling rock formation
known as The Three Sisters, which is why we chose to walk a scenic track instead and enjoy the springtime wildflowers.

From Katoomba we caught the rustic old bus that runs a "get on, get off" circuit that takes about an hour..
We dropped off at the Prince Henry Cliff Walk that gave us stunning vistas all the way and spectacular views of the Jamison Valley.

The track eventually led to Wentworth Falls but rain and bitter cold forced us back before we reached it.

In the small village of Leura there are some very swanky homes and gardens.
On the following day this magnificent garden was having an "open to the public day" - unfortunately we were a day too early.

Katoomba is a tacky town, impossible to find a decent eating place anywhere near the station.
Leura is very much a tourist town full off hard-eyed business types with painted smiles - lots of bric-a-brac & antique shops.

Re: The Blue Mountains

Barrie, thanks. The elements were against us and photographically looking into the light wasn't ideal for the subject. We enjoyed the sensational views nonetheless.

Andrew, Thanks Andrew.

That kind of thinking got my fingers burnt on a hot stove, Phill!
