The First Fruit Blossom of Spring: Old English Greengage with Stereo

Said to be the very best flavour of Greengage, this was planted last year and flowered too late to be pollinated. Yesterday was the first day of sunshine since the flowers started to open but we witnessed no pollination. However, there were several suitable pollinators open.

The stereo is crosseye.

Olympus EM-1, Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/250 at f11, sun, hand-held.

Harold

I hope you get fruit - they're the finest of the plum family. You don't see greengages these days.

Lovely as greengages are, I'd vote for bullaces - they make fantastic jam! I'm sure Harold's greengages will be delicious.

Not a greengage fan; I prefer your pictures.

We have some ancient trees, which are slowly dying. They are pollinators for the GG, as are our Damsons (make the best red jam).

For fresh fruit, eaten uncooked, Victoria Plum is superb but we lost ours to canker, which attacked the Damson too, saved by severe pruning.
