Re: Concrete Plans Update

It's just as well I'm not a beer drinker then. A bit of nice Scotch or even Baileys for me thanks.
But then, I have knocked back a good (boutique) beer on a hot day, COLD, of course!.

The following XZ2 keyline images were shot this morning. The steel framework is almost done. I rather like the hard edge effect, don't you?

Meccano comes to mind when I view these latest images
Are those small cylinders on the floor level covering services or something else?

Looks like dunny & shower (or bath) drain connections to me, but I hope he puts some walls around them though.

Looks like three points in one area & another in a walled location.

Huw, I don't know the stats but guessing I'd say most Wangaratta houses are brick and timber.
Many houses in Wang' are constructed in steel including Colorbond cladding. Interior of this house will be lined with Villaboard.
Our weather is nothing like yours, snow and blizzards are unknown on the plains of NE Victoria. You can take a quick peek at our averages Here.
The widely spaced trusses shown at the left in the first image is the garage of course. What is so amazing about this project is that except for the laying of the concrete slab,
the plumbing and electrical, the entire construction has been designed and built single-handedly by 'one man powerhouse', architect Robyn (72). I have watched his progress from the start late last year when with no more than a pick, shovel and wheelbarrow he dug the foundations in temperatures as high as 33C
working consistently day after day for approximately 6hrs ever since. As Ross says, those cylinders are plumbing outlets.

Re: Concrete Plans Update

Without doubt it's a very impressive project and all by one dedicated individual.
Really looking forward to seeing the project fill out with roofing and walls.
Hats off to your neighbour. Impressive stuff

Re: Concrete Plans Update

If you are familiar with Victor Hugo's, Les Misérables then you can think of my neighbour as Jean Valjean!

I will keep you updated as the project progresses.

Re: Concrete Plans Update

After several weeks delay due to the owner/builder injuring his back, work has resumed with the assistance of contractors laying the roof.

The graphic style processing is for clarity; the pink material you'll recognise as insulation underlay while the birds in the background watch their new perch being built.

This indeed is a most unusual looking house - I will be interested to see how it works as a Faraday cage when lightning strikes.
