Re: OM-D E-M1 Mkii

I think it's probable that the E-M1ii will come this autumn. I expect that it'll have 4k and improved AF. Personally, neither of these particularly interest me - but I have high hopes for a hand-held Hi-Res mode. If it has that and doesn't succumb to the flippy screen then I'll get one.

I want a gimmick free tool tough enough to drive nails in. No chance of that.

Re: OM-D E-M1 Mkii

Only three things guaranteed: tax, death and flippy screens.
4k is a nice to have, but more important is increased dynamic range and high ISO performance, for most at least.

Anyone care to guess what a "no global shutter" is?

Yes. It means it will have the same silent shutter function as the current models and will therefore be subject to the "rolling shutter/jelo" shortcoming.

Re: OM-D E-M1 Mkii

Hopefully remove things from the dial such as auto, again will never happen as will limit the market.
maybe make the slot to open the flap where the charging cable goes bigger save moving the screen.
better instruction manual :-)

I assumed they'd deliver hand held hi-res with the Pen F. I was wrong...

I like my E-M1 (after some early angst). I'd like better noise handling though and improved resolution for landscape shots. Either or both of these will probably convince me to upgrade. My suspicion is that we'll get a variant of the new 20Mp sensor seen in the Pen F (but with PDAF support). My hope is that we get hand held hi-res.

The new Pen F sensor delivers some useful incremental image quality improvements but not enough on its own IMHO.

There's rumour of some fancy piezo film to deliver hand holdable hi-res. Some sort of fancy MEMS (Micro Electronic Mechanical System).
