drmarkf, I think you have highlighted the issue I am trying to solve, controlled situations (studio or portrait sessions) vs unpredictable (gigs, low light, etc).

I original question was about the f1.2 pro lenses and will they fit my intended use (portrait and live gigs/events). Hence why I've used two systems; mft and FF.

Likely I need to get my hand on a f1.2 pro lens and give it a go.

Cheers

Paul

Re: F1.2 pro glass

D Magillacuddy seems to manage with these lenses for front page portrait shoots for Vouge and large fashion poster shots etc?

Re: F1.2 pro glass

The Sigma f/1.4 primes (30mm, 16mm) are a fraction of the price of the Oly 1.2 pros and get excellent reviews ...

Yes, the 30mm is also a good competitor to the Pan-Leica 25mm f1.4, being also a lot cheaper (although it is certainly a lot bigger as well).

Never heard of that. It needs to be exceptional if it wants market share while the superlative 50mm f/2 macro is around so cheaply on the used market.

Here is the announcement of Sigma 56mm F/1.4.

Not sure when we can order it.

The old Olympus 50mm is just an F/2.0 lens and focuses slow. Unless you need macro, Olympus 45mm F/1.8 is a better choice.
