Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

I'd like to add how light the shutter is compared to the E3,much less chance of movement when on slow shutter speed. Is that why the E3 has IS.
Also the L shape rather than the T of the E3 so your nose does not touch the very small screen and make a big blob.

Been out with mine this morning, still like it a lot.

Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

Use Olympus Digital Cameras Updater.

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...ds_updater.asp

With with XP, Vista and 7.

EDIT: I'm told it's not working with the E-1 for some reason. Suggestion: a dual boot system with XP and 7.

Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

My solution was to use an old netbook with XP. It's unlikely that I'll need it again as I very much doubt Olympus will release new firmware for the E-1!

Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

Hi Ceri,

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what combination of OS, software, connection etc di you find worked for the firmware upgrade?

I am also a new E1 owner and it is currently either v1 or v1.1 and although I am not desperate to upgrade it seems silly not to if possible.

Regards,

Are you on a windows operating system?
Viewer 1 will certainly work up to XP, but I can't vouch for any higher.

Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

Yes I am on XP however the viewer 1 disk must be faulty as it does not load. I can download viewer 2 from Olympus' site but am nit sure if that will work with the E1. Failing that does anyone have a link to download viewer 1?

Regards,

Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

Please ignore my last post, it would appaer that it was the autorun inf that was corrupt so I have been able to get the viewer software to install manually.

Re: E-1 firmware update with Win 7

Viewer and Studio work best with Windows XP and Windows 2000. I can probably find a disk if anyone really wants these.

However, even with Viewer or Studio installed, the E1 driver is still needed before you can update the firmware. Ironically, it is possible to download images from the camera without this driver, but a firmware update is impossible.

Secondly, even if the driver is installed for one E1, it must be installed AGAIN if a second E1 is connected, (i.e. to update a friends E1).

Whilst on this subject, my E5 is only seen as an external storage drive (on both XP and Windows 7), which my Canon PowerShot is seen as a camera. Is this correct?
