You are right - it's the E-P1 and E-P2 that have no RC functionality as they don't have built in flash units. Sorry for the confusion - I will correct my post!

Also looks like you're missing the cap for the flash cable which you can get from Luton cameras for a few quid too...

Same with my E1 when it arrived, I contacted Luton and they put both in one order and chared once for postage rather than charging postage for each.

Not too sure about the E-1, but I think it probably does with the E-3.
With the latter, it is possible to suck air though the socket.
Where air can get out, I think water could get in, even if only by capillary action.

For the time being I've decided I'll hang on to the E-1 and E-510.

Seems unfair not to give them a fair crack of the whip and they may just be more camera than I need anyway.

I'm interested to see how they compare in full shots and cropping so I'll do some comparison shots when I get time.
