Re: So what do you think it will be

Likely of much more personal interest is this from Pentax/Ricoh:

https://www.thephoblographer.com/201...for-photokina/

I had a conversation with one of their guys at the NEC show back in March and he hinted as much.

Give me a tilt-touch screen (or a tilt screen and a focus joystick) and better focusing, and I'll be breaking my wrist grabbing the wallet for what would be a serious, low visual-impact street photography tool.

Re: So what do you think it will be

A control ring around the lens mount would be nice. As would spot, highlight, and shadow buttons in the top plate. How about a third knob on the top that can be used for direct input of ISO and exposure adjustment. It would be a limited edition in titanium and it could be called the OM-D E-M4Ti.

I hope my quotes from Simon has been from the 'real Simon', but anyhow here is a recent post from him (the real one, I hope) quoted from here.

Re: So what do you think it will be

If its a sensor upgrade then how about a dual native ISO sensor at ISO 100 and ISO 1000 (or anything above 800).

Re: So what do you think it will be

Too trivial to consider, probably.

The lever would be the 'on/off' switch, where my right thumb could get at it.

Yes, yes, I know it can be assigned, but it ought to be built that way.

The 'on/off' switch would be the lever, that 'I' and many others 'never' use.

My money is on a Wind-Up camera, or kinematic, the more you use it the more you can use it. (Bliss) ^2

Re: So what do you think it will be

What about an oversized sensor plus computational sensor-shift background blurring with ‘feathery bokeh’?

I was having a play with a friend’s iPhone X yesterday, and I must say the portrait results are very good.

Whether any of us were actually interested in it or not, it would have the great advantage of answering the dpreview trolls’ moaning about the ‘poor depth of field’ of m4/3. Of course they’d find something else to dump on, but the AI available in that phone with its tiny lenses is extremely impressive in decent light, so think how much more could be done in a proper camera.

Re: So what do you think it will be

With sensors at 48MP on a 1/2 (8mm) chip, we can imagine the next 4/3 to be yet another significant step up, in all sorts of ways

Re: So what do you think it will be

I hope it will be a shiny new EM1 mark3 but I'm not so bothered what features it has, as long as loads of you lovely forum members buy them and then release some Mk2's onto the second-hand market at prices I can afford.

I certainly won't be buying a brand-new body anytime soon

Re: So what do you think it will be

4/3R now suggests additional video features

https://www.43rumors.com/ft5-the-new...ideo-features/

Whilst some here may not be bothered I think that is a good thing because it could well bring an additional user base (as long as it gets good reviews) and we all benefit from that in additional development and future support

Regards
Andy

Re: So what do you think it will be

As DavyG says, Expensive. Just ask yourself one question. Will it take better photographs than my present camera? The answer will almost certainly be a resounding no. You've just saved yourself around £1,800, {at a guess} Sorted. Ian W.

Re: So what do you think it will be

Very true. I had a mild? attack of GAS recently. Whilst browsing the shelves of my local camera emporium I spotted a pristine Nikon F3HP with an MD4 and knew I just had to have it. Before you knew it I had added three Nikon lenses, a 24mm WA, a 55mm Macro and an 85mm portrait lens. Next came a Plustek scanner quickly followed by a superb Zeiss Perkeo slide projector. The moral of this is I suppose, if it gives you pleasure just go for it, I did and don't regret it for one moment, its added another dimension to my photography. Its your money to spend on whatever you wish. Just enjoy it. Regards, Ian W.
