Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Some photos from yesterday at home, a bank or Cosmos flowers next to the tennis court and I was able to sit on step next to them.

Bee-fly at Rest with Stereo

Bee-flies tend to rest on surfaces other than flowers so this was a good opportunity for a stereo pair.

Olympus EM-1, Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 f2 50mm macro at f10, sunlight.

The stereo is crosseye. The small intrusion of green leaf is unfortunate but the 3D effect is good.

Damselfly at Rest on Weigela Flower

The single frames have been cropped, the stereos have not. The stereos are crosseye.

Olympus EM-1, Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro,1/200 to 1/100sec at f11, sunlight, handheld.

I saw my first Swallowtails of the year at Strumpshaw Fen today. Four immaculate, freshly emerged specimens were feeding on nettles in the sunshine. Always a lovely sight.

Well shot Ron. One of the benefits of living in Norfolk, which you tease me with each year!

But I shall be seeing European versions next week, alongside 130 other species on a trip to Croatia, so I may retaliate

The flat light has given your shot a lovely tranquil look. And sadly britannicus is clearly the prettier subspecies and seems to be more restful than continentals.

Nice post

Thanks John, don't have nightmares with this one. Not the greatest shot as they were jumping onto and flying around my head as I took it.

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Phil

Nice shot with the pansies and painted lady together. And the lady on its own shows you are getting the technique and focus sorted. Look forward to seeing a few more now as numbers increase.

The locusts are interesting but the swarm does make your stomach turn.
