Victorian Heatwave Melts Keyboard

Another 45'C day of searing heat - Northeast Victoria is the hottest place on Earth today.
Yesterday I had to take 4 cold showers to keep my body temp down -
ironically my split system air conditioner won't be installed until the 28th, 10 days away!

We are also on high bush fire alert. A total fire ban applies State wide.
In this heat there's absolutely nothing you can do outdoors.
You UK guys don't know how lucky you are

While I have to agree that is hot, Mark, not sure we are so lucky -

To be honest, we are not suffering here in Hertfordshire but many folk, not too far away, are. We need to trade some of your heat for some of our water! Great pic.

Ann1e

At least it should get your beer up to a drinkable temperature, Mark!

Don't exaggerate Mark. You could have made it look more realistic with the keyboard melting over the edge of the table.

Seriously though, I really do sympathise for you all down there with those horribly high temperatures (around 46) & fire threats. I hope you get your aircon installed OK & you can keep yourself cool enough somehow until then.

I'm sorry to hear of the floods over there (I'll have to check on my rellies there) & wish we had some of that rain, especially in SA & Victoria (& that overlooked state, Tasmania which is also suffering from the heat).

Another place suffering at the moment is Tonga. "Up to 70 percent of houses and buildings in the central Ha'apai islands group, which is home to about 8,000 people and bore the brunt of Cyclone Ian, were damaged or destroyed."
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wor...tonga-cyclone/
http://www.smh.com.au/world/aid-agen...113-hv891.html

All of our children have spent two weeks there when in their year 10 & a number of the Tongans have visited us over here too, so this is another point of grief for us for our friends there.

I really feel for the Victorians with raging fires in the Grampians too. They won't be able to stop that fire & people will have to just get out if they can.

I hope Roberta is OK (I can't remember where sh lives now?).
