The self-portrait thread...

Wasn't sure we had one of these, so as I am bored in a hotel room in foreign climes, I thought I would have a bash and do a self portrait. This is a first for me as I never get in front of the camera, but this evening thought... what the heck...!!

So, let's see if this thread goes anywhere... (or if I have killed it off right at the start )

E-3, handheld, lamp light, no flash, 14-54mm: me

Wot! No replies?

It's a very nice self portrait, you did well.

Absolutely no chance of getting me in here though, I'd break the forum!

Re: The self-portrait thread...

Thanks Ellie - I obviously frightened everyone off... Go on though, get one of you on here... it's only a laff. I hate my own image but thought 'what the heck' and just bit the bullet.

Thumbs up Re: The self-portrait thread...

I like this one, it has a lot of character to it. Only one small niggle though, I would have removed the spot on the left side of your nose. A good shot all the same Musicman well done.

Re: The self-portrait thread...

If I could do a self-portrait that good, I'd post one too - despite the poor quality of the source material!

Re: The self-portrait thread...

Thanks Hugh, though I didn't think it was that good to be honest. OK for a first (and brave) attempt I guess.

Re: The self-portrait thread...

You didn't think it was that good

It's excellent! The simple pose and direct look, spot-on focus and tight framing on the face make for a very good shot. The simple lighting that gives good modelling without losing shadow detail then raises it above the "very good" category. For a first attempt it's almost miraculous

Cheers,

JohnGG

Wehey, praise indeed, thanks John. So, should I contact a modeling agency then... hehehe...

Hand held and taken in front of the hall mirror so I could see the liveview screen.

Re: The self-portrait thread...

Like most people here I hate having my picture taken but I hate a lonely thread as well.

Can anyone spot the camera?

Re: The self-portrait thread...

Some good efforts here, I think.

John - yours is excellent, maybe a bit less light on the top left hand side of the face would make it even better? Overall I'd be very pleased with it.

Ewan - this works very well, nice lighting.

DTD - also very good, I like the treatment. What IS that thing that looks vaguely like a camera?

I'm still thinking if and how I could do something... don't hold your breath though

The real trouble is that most togs HATE having their pictures taken - often with good reason
