Question 12-100mm F4.0 IS PRO vs 14-150MM F4.0-5.6 II

Currently using the latter, as I got it as my first lens for my E-m1 mkii, but looking at the former:

Pros: faster, weather-sealed, in-lens stabilization EDIT ot add extra 2mm of width
Cons: weight, loss of reach.

Amy one used both of these and have any insight?

I have both. They are both very good lenses.

Personally I love wide angle and can't live with a lens that starts at 14mm instead of 12mm. So I use the 12-100 and my wife uses the 14-150 II.

Only you can decide.

Agree about the wide angle. those extra 2mm make a difference. Definitely should have listed that as a pro.

Re: 12-100mm F4.0 IS PRO vs 14-150MM F4.0-5.6 II

I have both (well my 14-150 is the Mk I but it's pretty close to the Mk II I think).

The 12-100 is certainly bigger and heavier, but I'd say it is a much higher quality, and the dual IS is also very handy. I found the 14-150 restrictive at the wide angle end, and also rather weaker quality-wise at the tele end. So for high quality work with my E-M1 I prefer to use the 12-100, with the 40-150 F2.8 if I need a longer reach.

For a lighter 'tourist' option I've just replaced my 14-150 with an Olympus 12-200! That has an extra reach at each end and is lighter than the 12-100 so fits on my Pen F rather better.

I would be interested in seeing some shots from the 12-200.

Rather than search through my files and post reduced versions here, I can refer you to this web page: https://blog.mingthein.com/2019/02/2...-200-f3-5-6-3/
