Acer launches first high-res Android tablet

Acer today debuted the Acer Iconia Tab 8, a highly portable 8-inch tablet with a Full HD display with IPS(1) and Zero Air Gap technologies and Intel® Atom™ quad-core processor bringing a fast and immersive multimedia experience. The Iconia Tab 8 also sports a simple and elegant design with a sophisticated metallic silver rear cover and slim profile that looks great and fits comfortably in one hand. Its excellent value, stylish design and great functionality make it compelling for young users or modern day explorers.

The Google Nexus 10 has higher resolution than the Acer (2560 x 1600 Super PLS display,) and has been out over a year, I have one, they are excellent.

Re: Acer launches first high-res Android tablet

Also in 10 inch and 2560x1600 is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, and Asus Transformer TF701T. 10 inches also sees the Sony Xperia Z2 with 1920x1200. Going down in physical size, another 2560x1600 device is the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 inch. Dropping back to 1920x1200 we get the Kindle Fire HDX (7 or 8.9 inch available). There is a lot of these Hi Res things around.

With HD resolution in a tiny 8-inch screen you're going to need young eyes to see any difference to the standard stuff.
