Flashguns with OM-D query.

Reading the manual, I get the impression that the Olly 36 and 50 flashguns, are not completely 'compatible' with the OM-D. Is in fact what they are saying, is that some of the additional flash functions/features which the OM-D offers, cannot be used if you are using one of these 'older' flashguns? I'm asking this because I know that even now you still get 'quirky' Japanese to English text translations!

Re: Flashguns with OM-D query.

The focus assist light does not work within those flashes, but continues with the body's own light. That part is a little frustrating when using bigger lenses that block the light. I would like to see that change to an option in the firmware, but then the answer might come back saying those focus assist lights (in the flashes) are not suitable for contrast autofocus.

Re: Flashguns with OM-D query.

Not directly relevant to the OP's question but I found that in certain indoor photos with awkward lighting, setting the OM-D dedicated FL-600R to Auto mode rather than TTL-Auto produces better skin tones - at least for brown skinned people like me and my family. I am not sure why this is so.
