One bird only Today

I saw one only bird on my walk this morning and I can't tell you what it is right now.

It is what it is, Phill. I can only remember visual things, that's why I have the devil of a job retaining bird names.

Re: One bird only Today

Thank you Mark, yes indeed it is a Rufus Whistler. Sandra kindly ID'ed it from the pic I emailed her. She must have the same bird book as you!
I have to thank the 40-150mm pro + 1.4x TC for the crisp shot, taken from about 30ft as it was flitting through the tree. Since I updated the latest M1 Mkii firmware, the focussing is markedly faster and more accurate.

Re: One bird only Today

Just another reason why I enjoy this forum. Some smashing photography with a hidden wealth of info from others, for when one gets stuck.

Re: One bird only Today

Wally, Harold, OM, thanks.
Now Harold, we mustn't refer to birds as either male or female, they are simply "bird persons", or just "birds" unless you wish to incur the wrath of the gender equality movement.

Re: One bird only Today

I know the Em1.2 has auto eye focus, it's good to know that a bird's anus (or should I say vent) can fool it though. May be a useful setting for BIFers.

Re: One bird only Today

By "BIFers" I presume you mean, Bums in Focus - one speculates upon the motivation that leads you to obsess upon such details …

Ah, then that would be an LIF, (lens in focus), not to be confused with an LEG (lens exponential gradient) …
