Still life...

Thought I'd try out what I learnt on the macro course the other day - most of what I learnt was around using flash guns with the system and still life photography.

Micheal Sewell won't be too worried by the competition I fear...

2 flashes (FL36R with shoot through umbrellas) One to the right and high, one to the left and low.

1 flash, to the right and high (two flashes gave shadows I didn't like.) at f2.8 to play with DoF!

2 Flashes as photo 1.

The important thing is to achieve the results you were hoping for. Did you?

I got the photos I was expecting - not necessarily the same thing of course 😜

I do seem to fail to get the drama that others manage to get into this sort of photo and I canít quite see where Iím missing it, the exposure seems to be right, but without the contrast sometimes seen, I need to learn more!

Perhaps a darker backdrop would have helped - Iíll try again, also with slightly less natural light to give deeper shadows.
