Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Last days of the Emperor. Taken yesterday resting in the foliage having spent an hour patrolling up and down the garden, sometimes inches from my face. Focus stacked image.

I really see the benefits of the focus stacking. How did you do it with this? I am intrigued.

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Have been absolutely uplifted by some of these images, it really feels good to be amongst similar folks. I'm glad I am not the only one spending hour after hour photographing insect life.

This was my computer desktop image for several months. It just appealed to me. I got the exposure wrong so needed to rescue it from being almost a silhouette, when I did I was amazed at how much the 60mm macro had pulled in...

I don't know what this is. I call it a lace-wing but please say if you know.

And, this is just a sad lunch.

Thanks Peter. They're easier to shoot if you can get beneath them, and the above tree canopy can make interesting bokeh.

Thanks Peter,

The best place to see a Norfolk Hawker is usually Strumpshaw Fen in mid June however, we didn't see one there when we visited this year due to the cold weather, the pic above was taken at RSPB Minsmere.

The Willow Emeralds are slowly spreading across Suffolk and I've been told that they have been spotted in Essex. I know the best site to find them, if you fancy a visit to Suffolk next August let me know and I'll take you to the site.

More E510 images, which I'd forgotten that I'd taken.

Keeled Skimmer:

As always, thanks for looking.
