Wasted Workshop (almost)

Four people out for the day today.
It started off badly and ended badly as far as getting images was concerned.
It has done nothing but pour down all day. We travelled towards Inverness hoping that the weather front would clear to the north east but no such luck.
We ended up having a 'soup and sandwich' lunch at the 'Cluanie Inn' after which
we took a slow drive back. After about four miles the rain stopped for about five minutes so we all jumped out and took some images.
I managed this one.

Re: Wasted Workshop (almost)

Sorry to hear that. I was in Forres last week and there were roadside warnings that severe rain was due from Thursday.

I had absolutely superb weather all week though, got some great photos.

I used to swim in Loch Garten when I worked as a warden on the Osprey reserve in the late 60s. A tad nippy!

I trust they did not get a refund ? so you were not out of pocket too much

It is a shame when the weather turns and adds little or nothing to the day. I check the weather the night before and in the morning viewing the BBC weather video forecast (which tends to be pretty accurate here) but you are a smaller landmass and I suspect suffer vast changes betwixt forecast and actual ?

Well, I think that picture was worth going out for.

That's my biggest worry about running landscape workshops; what do you do with a group of eager clients if it rains all day?

John, I think it is about being out ... I suspect many of those on Jon's Tog Day were visitors to the Islands ?

Maybe the day can be taken tomorrow or another day and the SUN will come out

Oops! I didn't mean it to come across like that Re-reading it doesn't too good does it?

Sorry Seonnaidh. Hopefully the weather will improve for your next class.

Steve

I shouldn't worry, Steve, I'm sure he's got a thick skin!

Re: Wasted Workshop (almost)

I've got skin like a Rhino.
Today was their last day, so it was a wee bit upsetting for them.
However two of them have booked to come back a soon as we have some snow.

Jon, We are planning along weekend in South Wales and Expect rain and mist, maybe fog but its not just about the light and sun and photography its about the rest and relaxation and UNWINDING from the regular stress in life

and once you get away, having made that huge effort it is easier to plan it again - although, there are a few very stressed individuals who will blame you and/or not accept that the weather was not decent for THEM

Re: Wasted Workshop (almost)

Just a suggestion Seonnaidh. If the weather is cr@p why not concentrate on rivers and waterfalls? I am sure there are plenty in your area and wet weather is just fine for such subjects.
