Question pricing am I the crazy one

Not a moan about the body price there is enough of that around already, but the nonsensical bundle pricing

i took these from a major retailer site who used to be based in Leicester

EM1 Mk 1 with 12-40 pro = 1148 Body only on the same site = 799 so lens = 349

same website

EM1 Mk 2 with 12-40 pro = 2399 Body only on the same site = 1849 so lens = 550

So its 201 more for the same lens if you invest an extra 1050 in the camera body

I could blame that one retailer, but frankly its pretty much the same elsewhere. I've often thought that Olympus Marketing department is crazy (ref the EM5 launch) and this does nothing to convince me otherwise

Regards
Andy

Re: pricing am I the crazy one

Shifting obsolete EM1's accounts for this, I would have thought. If you want the 12-40 and listed the EM1 you would effectively end up paying the higher price for the lens.

Re: pricing am I the crazy one

There is not a world of sense there I agree. It seems retailers/Olympus are prepared to discount the lens along with the MkI body. I presume they're not keen on splitting the kits.

I'm even more puzzled that the lens on it's own seems to be at 849 in most places, though 644 (inc P+P) at Bristol Cameras.

Re: pricing am I the crazy one

799 for body only is very optimistic. I've seen new (presumably grey import) E-M1s for 500.

Re: pricing am I the crazy one

Looks like the Americans are getting an improved trade-in deal: http://43addict.com/2017/02/26/olymp...onable-priced/

I've seen 75 extra trade-in deals from UK suppliers, but $200 extra would bring the price down to a level at which I'd certainly jump. It would be better still if the deal itself was increased to match the greater base cost in the UK, of course...

I shan't be forgetting (or losing!) my wallet at the NEC later this month...

OK drmarkf pistols at dawn, if I am late start without me.

My wallet was held by airport security ( probably instructions from my wife).

Re: pricing am I the crazy one

I'll be there on Monday. May I suggest 12:00 on the Oly stand for those who are there and wish to say hello.

cheers
