Garry Winogrand: a retrospective

Reading this https://www.theawl.com/2013/06/shutter-madness/ one may conclude that Winogrand was a digital photographer long before digital photography was developed. Perhaps W Eugine Smith and Vivian Maier were also afflicted?

Re: Garry Winograbd: a retrospective

Does sometimes help to leave an image a day or two before processing.

1000+ photos a night...that's a lot by any standard............

Re: Garry Winograbd: a retrospective

Better to have a good memory of a scene than a poor photo.

My latest roll of film has been marinating for 3 months. Just a few more clicks and it's in the tank. Given the passage of time I only have vague recollections at best, it will be fun to see and smell the results.

Re: Garry Winograbd: a retrospective

I'm a strong supporter of marination, digital or in the fridge.

I find it works both ways - that momentary scene you saw and captured with triumph doesn't work as well as your (highly selective) memory had invested, while a couple of other shots are slow-burners and have a subtle impact that you'd have missed entirely if you'd culled the images right away.
